Zune startup issues...any ideas?

Question

So my boyfriend left his car window down and it rained on the passenger seat. He got in his car and set his 4 GB Zune into the puddle. The back of the Zune got wet as did the bottom part of the touch pad. Now it won't turn on unless it is plugged into the computer.

As long as it's plugged into the computer, it works just fine. However, when it is unplugged, it just freezes, goes black, and turns off.

I tried to restart it, but it still won't respond. I also tried to reset it, but that didn't work either. I don't understand why it would still work connected to the computer if it was due to water damage, unless the battery was fried or something.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to do to get it to work? The warranty just ran out a few days ago.

The warranty wouldn't have covered this repair anyway since it was water damage. Unless you are adept at repairing electronic devices yourself I suggest you do an online search for Zune repair services or pay Microsoft to fix it.
