What is a good camera for backpacking?
Hey all, I do a lot of backpacking, kayaking, bicycling, etc. I was wondering what a good all around camera would be. I don't care if it is a point and shoot or something more professional. I just want some feedback!

Depends on the trip but I have a Nikon N65 35mm but when the trail gets rough or if theres water in the equation- storms, kayaking, fishing etc or if I`m rock climbing I go to my Olympus 770SW. Its lightweight takes great pics and is waterproof upto 33ft, freeze proof to 14*F, crush proof to 160 or 180 lbs can easily take a 6 foot drop on a hard surface. Its small enough to fit a shirt breast pocket but isnt difficult to find the buttons. They replaced the 770sw (which is 7.1 mega pixels) with the slightly more bulkier 1030SW (10.1 mega pixels, Crush proof to 220lbs)

I've hiked with the film versions of the Olympus Infinity and the Stylus zoom
One of these days when I finally decide to buy a digital camera it will be the digital version of the film Stylus
My experience is that Olympus makes excellent ,rugged ,lightweight cameras

I have a Nikon CoolPix S9 and its great! I dont think they make this particular model (S9) anymore, but I'm sure the Coolpix line is still a solid choice.
