No Matter How Bad This Credit Crunch Gets...?
I could never ever ever abandon my animals.... I was just on the RSPCA website, and it showed a picture of a hamster which looked like it had been rescued from a bin for dog waste, a bag full of bearded dragons, and a dog left in a cardboard box. :-( If you want to see the pics I am on about, just follow this link and watch the little slideshow type thing that is on the RSPCA homepage:
Those pictures make me want to join the RSPCA now!!
Would you ever just dump your animals like that?? I never could!

Nope, Id never give up my dogs.
I think there are two kinds of pet owners out there...
1. The ones that get a pet and embrace it as one of the family.
2. The ones that get a pet for the "cool accessory" aspect.
I reckon its the second type that are the ones who get rid of their animals. Its the particularly moronic ones that do it by sticking them in a bag and putting them out with the rubbish.
The pet owners who consider their pets as family members wouldnt get rid of their pets unless it was absolutely the last resort, and even at that, I am sure they would take the care to try and find a new home or somethign for them.
On a personal note... I lost my job not too long ago and I am now on job seekers allowance (which aint much!), money is very tight, but by pulling in the purse strings a bit and makeing do without a few other things, I have managed to keep things relatively normal.
At no point did getting rid of my dogs enter into my mind... They will be with me until the natural course of things comes to an end.

I find it DISGUSTING how any body could treat an animal cruely. I saw an RSPCA advert the other night saying more animals are being abandond because of 'The credit crunch'. My opioion is if you know you are capable of just dumping an animal or mistreating it then dont have the animal in the first place and if you feel you can no longer take care of it then take it to a rehoming centre not just dump it.
Things like this make me so angry! Lets hope karma is true and these people get what is coming to them.

I would never ever consider getting rid of my dogs, hell would
freeze over first no matter how bad things get, I wonder if those
people who have dumped their animals have actually given up on
their luxuries, outings etc, what really annoys me is that they are
actually DUMPING the animals, if they really have hit rock bottom
why not tell the truth and actually take the pets to a rescue center,
I think this recession is just a lame excuse with a lot of folk who didn't
really want the pet's in the first place.

Never
That's why I think they should bring in licences for pet owner and tests to make sure you are fit enough to keep animals
I understand so people might panic or be depressed if they are struggling to cope if money is tight but even then sure they could give the pet to a new loving home instead of just dumping them
Poor things they don't have a choice in who owns them so the least we can do is care for them

Its just the latest excuse for people to get rid of their animals. Nobody who truly loves animals would dump them just cos money gets a little tight. Sure if you end up on the street, but thats fairly unusual in a culture where you can get housing benefits and income support. Anybody who cares will make every sacrifice they can before getting rid of their pets...these people are just irresponsible and making up excuses, most of the time anyway. My pets are my children and you dont just dump your children because you're skint.

I never really thought about it but the recession is probably affecting charities such as the RSPCA which is a huge shame as this company in particular doesn't receive any form of government funding.
I'm a huge animal lover too.

I have just paid a vet bill of £1400 for my old dog. She broke her leg.
It was all the money I have in the world. I will go without for a long time but seeing my dog happy means more to me than money.
There are not many true animal lovers who would sacrifice themselves for their pets. Would they do that to their children! Maybe they would.

I thought of that when I saw the advert for the SPCA. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and no way could/would I ever even consider abandoning them. They would eat much the same and I would buy/eat cheaper.

i think of it is going to as banks in basic terms in basic terms have not got the money to lend. i think of you will see them call in fairness strains, decrease credit limits for individuals who pay the minimum stability on their credit playing cards, no longer lend to risky debtors and often tighten the standards to borrow money. in case you do not have plenty debt, do no longer borrow plenty or use/abuse plenty credit, have a great variety of sources, discounts and have an fairly good FICO score, none of this could influence you, so it won't "worsen" for you. it extremely is obviously, except you paintings for a business corporation that may no longer able to fulfill its payroll considering the undeniable fact that's no longer able to borrow money. Then that 8-12 month emergency fund you have stored will with a bit of luck get you in the process the worst of it.

No i could not abandon my animals. But isn't it strange that people will abandon their animals due to the credit crunch but still be able to afford
to drink, smoke and go out every weekend.
