Jehovah’s Witnesses: Why doesn’t your website respond to those rotten apostate lies?

Very frequently, when a person posts a question about the doctrinal history (etc) of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, he/she is called an “apostate liar” (“whore of Babylon,” etc) by your membership. One poster, several years ago wrote:

I think I'm quitting Yahoo Answers. Everyone is spreading rotten apostate lies. I think there are too many apostates here. I've blocked over a hundred so far!

When I searched for examples of these “apostate lies” I came up with the following (frequently mentioned cases):

1. Jehovah’s Witnesses were once discouraged from playing chess.

2. Jehovah’s Witnesses have discouraged their children from attending universities

3. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not allowed to read religious literature that criticizes or attacks their major doctrines.

4. The Watchtower Society was sued for its lax policy on child abuse cases.

5. The WTS once prohibited its members from having vaccinations.

6. The WTS discourages members from being police officers (carrying weapons, etc).

7. The WTS entered into a compromise agreement with the government of Bulgaria.

Members of the group always say that the ONLY place to find out the truth about the Jehovah’s Witnesses is by visiting their official website. However, the official website does not answer many of these questions. Why don’t they add a section called “common misunderstandings?” This section could state very clearly:

1. JWs were never discouraged from playing chess.

2. There was never any criticism or concern about JWs pursuing Masters and Doctorate degrees.

3. JWs are completely free to read books and pamphlets that attack their beliefs.

4. The WTS has never once been sued for a child abuse scandal.

5. JWs have never had any concerns or opposition to vaccinations.

6. There is no problem at all with a JW being a police officer and using deadly force.

7. The WTS never had any negotiations or compromise with the government of Bulgaria.

If the official site had such a section, it would greatly reduce all of the horrible slander and lies that are spread about your faith. So why doesn’t the WTS provide specific counter-arguments to all the rotten apostate lies that are being spread about Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Update:

Way with Words: I am not an apostate – as I understand that term. I completely agree that the WTS should defend itself against these slanderous lies. The problem is that most of these lies are about the history of the organization and it’s really hard to find information about those topics on your official website. As for point four, the only problem I see is the group’s policy requiring two eye witnesses to proceed with congregational discipline.

Update 2:

Conundrum: You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to recognize a rhetorical argument along the lines of Acts 17:22-31. But you do need spiritual discernment to assess the motives of such an argument.

Update 3:

Big Brown: The sad thing is that most Jehovah’s Witnesses have a rather poor understanding of their organization’s history because the WTS makes a concerted effort to censor that information (even suing people who post old literature). I guess it’s easier to call someone a “liar” than to actually check the sources (as the Bereans did) to see whether the information is accurate.

Update 4:

Poя¢єℓαιη Vєssєℓ: I think you are missing the key point. Your official website is not comprehensive; it does not contain all the answers for questions (about your doctrines and history) that one might have. I don’t think that the WTS lies, but is does intentional withhold and censor information. For example, why does your media site list a “compromise” with the Bulgarian government, but not publish the details of that compromise. Do you suppose that omission was accidental?

Simply put it is not worth the time, besides these apostate liars are the vocal minority.

I'm sure you're well aware that the individuals that spread these lies are driven by hatred and frustration. So all we can do is turn the other cheek, because nothing we say or do will change their agenda.

If a person is really searching for the truth about JW's we can clear these misunderstandings up face to face, and than focus on the positive effects that God's Kingdom ruled by Jesus will bring to mankind.

An apostate is one who DIRECTLY and OUTWARDLY shows that he opposes true worship, and everything it stands for. If a JW just, "leaves", and isn't a JW anymore, he's not an apostate. That individual MUST make attempts to oppose/break true worship and act out against it. THEN they are considered apostates. You may or may not know this, but apostates were around in Jesus' day and did do a great deal of harm towards the Christian congregation. Jehovah says that whoever is touching "you" (referring to his followers) is touching my eyeball. If an apostate is trying to degrade the witnesses, Jehovah's people, he will bring his vengence upon them at, yes, Armageddon. God will not show his love for them because they are UNREPENTANT. Apostates won't change, and conform to God's ways. So, for the sake of being JUST to the people who are doing good, the people who are following Jehovah, Jehovah will get rid of the apostates, so that the world can eventually be filled with righteous people, as is his promise in Psalm 37:10,11. The only determination if an apostate will survive Armageddon or not is NOT up to Jehovah, he's already set the standard, it's up to the apostate to be willing to change and repent. In most cases, he/she won't do that. He/She doesn't think Jehovah will REALLY kill them, he/she might not think Armageddon is coming. Whatever he/she thinks, Jehovah will take care of them in the most just way possible.

I would see it as a natural progression for the watchtower society to publish such things on its website. They obviously invest a great deal of time and money on their internet visibility, but have yet to come up with a FAQ style page for their readers.

The society has men dedicated to the vindication of its message. They employ people to reply to media assaults on their organisation, yet fail to provide answers on their own website. The only logical conclusion is that they have no answers. At least none worth printing.

Maybe this is because their followers are already brainwashed enough, or because they do not want to draw any further attention to apostate truths. Either way the truth will eventually become known. Until that day, thankfully some former JWs will attempt to save those who are lost in the organisation.

What you should be more concerned about is getting your own life back in order. The Society is Not there for your or others amusement. If it had to answer every charge out there, it would be spending more time with that than the Preaching work.. I can see right through your facade.

The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy: “The inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1) Notice that the teachings of demons would be particularly influential in “later periods of time.

Satan uses similar designs, that is, schemes, maneuvers, and strategems, to deceive and seduce people today. But since the Bible provides a thorough history of Satan’s deceptive methods, Jehovah's Witnesses are not ignorant of his designs. (2 Corinthians 2:11

    I see Your Methods.

WTS need not to waste to time on apostates. Our focus is on helping people learn what the bible teach. We wouldn't want to be sidetracked. Our deeds and words will prove who we really are. Besides, the burden is not on us. Most people know what the truth about us is. I think the apostates have the burden of spreading those lies. Their are dyng to convince others to believe them, but their hatred and behaviour fails them ;-)

In addition, the WTS website is general website, meaning it designed for public viewing. So any partcular question may not be published in that website, but they can write to WTS for some questions. Besides, those lies are so irrelevant and not corroborable to be given attention. Why waste time for it, we all know that those are made by small group of apostate who are too motivated by their hatred? Their claim is to insignificant.

Their efforts can be compared to someone trying to make a large fire in the middle of a LARGE ocean ;-)

But we must not discount the possibility that they might change. They might again accept the truth. So we would not want to fight/debate them. We would not want to add fuel to their burnig hatred and disgust. For now, we have to respect their rights and leave them to Jehovah. Here's a scriptural support..

    2 Tim 2:23-26

23 Further, turn down foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing they produce fights. 24 But a slave of the Lord does not need to fight, but needs to be gentle toward all, qualified to teach, keeping himself restrained under evil, 25 instructing with mildness those not favorably disposed; as perhaps God may give them repentance leading to an accurate knowledge of truth, 26 and they may come back to their proper senses out from the snare of the Devil, seeing that they have been caught alive by him for the will of that one.

    Thank!

  • Rustic, you make many derogative comments about us, some quite blatantly, but most in passing remarks.... yet they have no foundation.

For example, we do not say that the only place to find out our beliefs is our website at all ... what we DO say is that is that our official website is the only accurate place to find out our beliefs. There are many people who know our beliefs that are not Witnesses themselves, yet they do not fabricate deceitful misinformation with the sole purpose of misleading people.

If I knew there was a possibility that a water source was contaminated, yet it could also possibly be pure water (50/50) .... & I also knew another 100% certain pure water source ... I'd be foolish to go to the former wouldn't I? It's the same with misinformation.

If you REALLY want to know our beliefs, opinions etc then go to a Jehovah's Witness or their official site. Do you think we lie or something?

Of course, if all you're interested in is misinformation ...continue to trawl negative sites about us. You won't be disappointed

Btw - Jehovah will set matters straight with the apostates

It's him that they have to answer to ....not us

    Rustic -

It's probably because they don't feel like it.

You're obviously an apostate, a disgruntled, disappointed or disassociated person, aren't you? You know what? Jehovah's Witnesses have just as much RIGHT to defend their good reputation and good name as any other group, individual, organization or belief system - even through the court of law - even in Child Molestation cases. Jehovah's Witnesses appreciate the wise direction and counsel they receive from the Faithful Slave Class because it benefits them all.

Be careful, Sire. Your message has been noticed by a very active, potent, defensive, previously outraged JW who learned the hard way how to appreciate God's high standards. Oh yes. I'll be defending my faith, and helping people who read what you have to say against us in a way that will send you and them away shivering - like a hosed down wet poodle with it's tail between its legs. Your 4th point above wasn't very pretty. And as someone who experienced the worst of the worst with Jehovah's Witnesses, who returned to be taken under the wings of some very long-time faithful JW's, you's playin' with fire now, Son. Take care. (I meant to say it like that) And I will defend from the Bible, the highest authority out there - and any other useful forms of defense necessary- with just as much audacity as you've got to dish out, Rustic, Sir.

    Let the challenge begin.

You dont have to be a rocket scientist to understand that JW's biggest problem is that they think that their religion is PERFECT. NO RELIGION IS PERFECT. They dont respond to "lies" because they never respond to ANYTHING. Doctrine is doctrine is doctrine and nothing can go against it.

They are so controlled and brain washed and they love it. Biased is the only way for them, and free thinking is foreign. "God is Love" but he is a God who is so petty he gets upset if you want to throw someone a birthday party or get your mom a mother's day gift. "God is just" but he wants you to bleed to death in the road after a car accident while your baby sits in the car because theres a verse in the bible that says "no unclean blood" and that means NEVER have a blood transplant. Oh, and its not God's church its THEIR church, and thats why its cool to kick people out when theyre bad. When people are sinning thats the time they need to be in church the MOST.

And the elders...theyre the WORST. The 200,000 "chosen ones". More like puppet masters. You cant even sneeze without their permission in some situations. The ones that decide everything and get to partake of the wine and bread. Everyone is EQUAL in God's eyes. EVERYONE is supposed to partake of Jesus's body and blood. Churchs cant appoint special men that get to go to heaven and rule with God, only GOD makes those kinds of decisions and its blasphemous to think that you can place yourself in that kind of authoritative position. Not to mention, theres plenty of room for EVERYONE IN HEAVEN, not just a group of 200,000 JW.

Yall are so off its sad. I really feel and pray for you.

some of those things there are not lies. If course JWs won't be able to answer because they are discouraged from looking at apostate sites so they don't know what is there.

Source(s): I will get a VN from JWs who report me when I say something that they don't agree with.

    Cute rant:D

I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
