I have to fly to Louisiana on Monday with a layover in Dallas. Should I wear a mask do you think?

I don't want to get the swine flu and certainly don't want to bring it home to my family when I fly back on Wednesday. Would you wear a mask?

Update:

Ooopss, forgot to mention that I am flying out of Orlando.

Update 2:

Thank you astutewoman...to "top contributor"...it is not yet confirmed in Florida.

Update 3:

Leah, I am flying into Alexandria and going to Leesville.

Update 4:

True Believer--thank you! Go Army! This trip for me finalizes our move from Ft. Polk and my husband's medical retirement.

I live in a Dallas Suburb and will tell you that in the whole state of Texas there have been only 16 confirmed cases so far. This is an overblown media event. Still, if it makes you feel safer go ahead and wear a mask. First check and see if it is a comfort mask or if it really blocks viruses. There is nothing wrong with an error on the side of caution.

there are zero confirmed cases in florida... go to the cdc site to find out...

I would wear a mask if flying.. what does it hurt? Everyone on a plane is breathing the same air - and sure you may get looks from others - maybe even be accused of being paranoid - but better paranoid than dead I say -- and honestly, this is not high school - who cares if its a bit over the top to some -- do it.. be safe... also, I am betting a bunch of people on your plane will be wishing they donned masks too instead of being afraid of looking silly...

Well its in Florida now, so either way, you can still pick it up and transmit with a mask on, its just less likely,In your case I would wear a mask just to prevent any transmission.

I would wear a mask and take along something like Purel after you've touched a lot of surfaces so you can kill germs on your hands and absolutely wash your hands before you eat anything.

You probably don't need one, but if you aren't embarrassed by wearing one, I am sure it wouldn't hurt. Here is some info on the best masks, and even how to make your own:
