What causes severe leg pain & swelling with purple color while pregnant?
I am 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant & I have been experiencing severe leg pain in my left leg starting at my hip with swelling and a purple discoloration. Only when I stand up, if I am laying down I am fine. What could be causing this?

poor circulation. it was the opposite for me when i was pregnant last time. when i laid down, id get awful, horrid, cramps in my legs.. unbearable to say the least. not much u can do.. just keep moving as best you can. swelling and veins is also normal..unfortunately. youre packed to the max with fluids right now. try to cut back on salt, that helps sometimes

Yes Fibromyalgia does cause pain and swelling all over your body including your feet and legs. I'm one that suffers from fibromyalgia real bad. I am always in pain. I feel for any one that suffers from this disease. I have to take water pills for the edema I get all over my body! I exercise everyday and the following day I barely can get out of bed. Because My body aches like I have been hit by a truck. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 16. I'm now 37. Take care!

That is not good. It happened to me too. The placenta was peeling. The doctor put me on bed rest then it healed itslef. Baby was born fine and healthy :) It sounds like you need an emergency ultra sound right away. Contact your doctor right away and tell her what is going on. Take care!!!

it could absolutely be a blood clot...If I were you I would head to the emergency room...blood clots are more common during pregnancy and if your leg is discolored and painful, this Could be the problem..
