If a Person drinks twice a week, do you think he/she is abusing alcohol or alcoholic?

What do you think? Are you a doctor? if so...what do you think?

If a human drinks to be sh*t faced, 2 days out of 7 days ....is he or she can be considered as alcoholic?

How can you decide if a person is alcoholic??

Thanks..

If you can't stop drinking until your bombed out of your mind then you have a problem. Even if it is twice a week. You need to know your limit and stick to it.

That would depend. No, I am not a doctor.

If a person is drinking twice a week, they could be be either of these. It would matter how much they are drinking, as well as their mindset.

When an alcoholic drinks, they tend to focus on when they can drink again - even if it is only once a week.

When a person gets sh*t faced drunk 2 days out of 7 days, I would say they were definitely abusing alcohol. The vital organs of the body are taking a drastic beating with this type of treatment. Is the person an alcoholic? That would be for the person, them self, to decide.

How to decide? Do you drink because the drink is around or people are socially drinking; or, are you drinking because your mind stays focused on when you get your next drink. It is like having OCD and compulsion is to drink alcohol. It is a drive that can often only be controlled by not drinking alcohol.

You might like to check out an AA meeting, or read the AA Big Book. Anyone can attend the meetings. Most people go to the meetings to help themselves find out what problem they may have; and, how they need to work on it.

My source is myself. I am an alcoholic.

An alcoholic is defined as a person that feels the "need" for the drink and a craving. Someone that isn't able to stop at 1 or 2 drinks. Men are allowed 2 glasses each night, of wine, and women are allowed 1. While you are allowed to go beyond that, if you find yourself having 5 glasses, something may be wrong.

This also depends on the type of alcohol you are drinking, how much you weigh and that sort.

If you are drinking several shots/ glasses of rum, vodka or anything heavy like that every week, then something is wrong.

If a person drinks to get "drunk", then there is a problem. They are developing a need, an urge for that buzzed feeling and will end up drinking more and more to get that result.

If you find yourself in that situation, mental help and AA is most likely what you need.

I'm an alcoholic and I've been in AA for awhile. A big thing in AA is that you CANNOT label another person as an alcoholic. It's something they have to decide for themselves. One drink a week can make someone an alcoholic. 2 cases of beer a night can also make someone an alcoholic. It's up to them to decide what their motivation is for drinking. There is MUCH more to being an alcoholic than the amount of alcohol you drink.

To answer your question, yes, they can be considered an alcoholic if they decide they are one.

An alcoholic is a person who cannot put the drinks down and stop at any time. A person that does not know when too much is too much. From the sound of what you wrote you have a drinking problem and i would say likely an alcoholic. you feel a need to drink on a regular basis and then to do it to a point of excess. Please get some help and do yourself and your family and friends a favor and make a change and get help if you cannot do it on your own.

No. You have just joined the rest of the country haha I do the same and during the week i couldnt care less about alcohol. Alcoholics are addicted. You are clearly just leaving it till the weekend to let your hair hang down and celebrate. big woop, lots of young ppl do it but just consider your health because it doesnt make it ok that 2 days of binge drinking doesnt harm you long term because it can and does. Remember to drink plenty of water and eat before you drink. Also you don't HAVE to get overly drunk to be having fun. Hangovers are a waste of a day.

I think if you can function on a daily basis without it you are not considered an alcoholic. I guess it depends on if you can go without it and eventually you or the person you are refering to might become dependent on the alcohol. Black out drunk is not good that means your body isn't processing correctly. Control yourself stop when your drunk don't keep on drinking.

As always no drinking and driving. =]

Im not a doctor just my opinion and what i've seen

If you drink solely to get drunk, then you could technically be considered alcoholic, but typically an alcoholic drinks at least a little bit every day without faltering. Also, they need to drink, not because they feel like it but because they have to.

She or he is on her way to be an alcoholic. U can determine if they are alcohlic or not by seeing if they can stay for a very long period of time without drinking the once or twice. If they hv to drink once or twice a week, its only a matter of time b4 they drink more than once or twice.
