Vista questions: Moving to Vista?

Q1.

If I install vista in a Disk with XP, do I need to redefine the partitions? Or, I can just format the C: and install? just like always.

Q2.

Which version of Vista is the fastest, given the same hardware? Ultimate or Home Premium?

If you mean dual boot xp and vista, you will have to create another partition. If you just want to overwrite xp, put the disk in and boot up. In ANY event, you better plan on at least 2 gigs of ram because vista will eat 1 up!

There would be such a minute diff in speed, it wouldnt be noticable

If you want both XP and vista on your system you need to redefine a new partition for vista or if you are just upgrading from XP to vista you can choose the upgrade option and the installer will take care of everything, Home Premium is Optimum for everyday activities for your home pc, but if you are an advanced user then you will need to definetely use ultimate. But since you have not mentioned your computers configuration i'll be happy to give you more details by mail, so please mail me all info like your computer's config, hardware etc, to goutham91@gmail.com

Another suggestion is you can download a program called vista upgrade advisor in your XP and run the program it'll scan your PC and will say whether the coinfig is enough or not, it'll also give details about the best version of vista your pc would run, this program is available at the microsoft's website

Yes you need to format C drive for Installing vista.

or else make a new partition (if you dont have) and install Vista in it.

I seriously suggest you not to go for vista. It SUCKS.Wait until windows 7 stable is released.

Q1. >i will basically format the C: and deploy? basically like continuously. that's real. Q2 >Which version of Vista is the quickest, given a similar hardware? all of them run on a similar velocity -- the underlying engine recent in all variations of Vista are a similar. the basically suited version basically comes with constructive properties no longer generally recent in homestead top rate. of path, activating all the constructive properties will clearly reason your pc to decelerate as a results of fact they require RAM (occasion: Dreamscene)
