Is baptism necessary for salvation?

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

If you believe – and are baptized!

It seems pretty obvious that if someone ‘believeth not’ they won’t be baptized! Thus baptism must be necessary.

i'm nonetheless somewhat at a loss for words about this example. thanks for making it clearer for me. i might want to assert that baptism isn't mandatory for salvation. ok, do I have this good? Baptism is meant to be a public act of repentance and statement of our determination to persist with Jesus. John the Baptist reported repent and be baptized, and Jesus replaced into baptizing followers too. i think like i'm lacking some thing. and how can we keep that stability to avert it growing to be an empty ritual?

It is for those of age. Those under age come under their parents 'umbrella.'

Baptism enters a person into the new covenant relationship with God through Christ - this means that the ransom price from that moment covers one's accidental sins and also covers one's pre-baptism activities. It does not erase the effects of what one did previously, e.g. a prisoner is still in prison, a person who caught HIV still has it, etc.

    ^^

Someone else said it isn't required for salvation.

Here is what the Bible says,

"even baptism, . . . but the demand as before God of a good conscience, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, "

This demand or request for a good conscience occurs through faith in the ransom. Baptism is a public symbol that God requires of each for this to be granted.

    This Peter emphasizes here:

" 38 And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, . . ."

As can be seen, baptism is for remission of sins. This is granted upon being baptized if certain other conditions have been met.

No baptism is only necessary if it helps you to feel closer to God. God does not care he'll love you for you.

I have had my doubts if God loves me anymore so I myself don't know what to do.

But if you love God he knows that and baptism was man kept not something God required. Jesus, I believe and this in my own opinion, was baptized as Gods son and needed to be baptized in order to prove his devotion to his true father. Now baptisms today are done for that same reason. But we do not need to be baptized in the same way because God loves his children and salvation is there for all his children.. And I hope myself included.

    He Loves you.

That would make belief and baptism a good work, Christ alone saves all who call upon Him, His life and death give them the entitlement to heaven, but get baptised anyway.

baptism the ritual act, with the use of water, by which one is admitted as a full member of the Christian Church and, in the view of friends and family , it is just a ritual how can a child know it has to be baptised will it be dammed if it is not OF COURSE NOT

I think you don't understand what baptism means.

I also think you should look at the sum total of the scripture. Not just one verse.

    Suppose I took one verse....

    "Truth? What is truth?"

... and built a complete doctrinal statement around it?

How ironic that, when I was a baby, I got baptized, and now question my belief in God.

    No, baptism isn't required.
