Some help with Horse Shedding Blade?

I have an old horse shedding blade. It has red leather on it. I am wondering if anyone has any information on the brush's history. I would like to know when it was invented. Thanks :)

Here is a link to one similar:

Update:

By old I meant 25 + years. I know it isn't an antique . I just am interested in it's history.

That is all.

Thanks :)

years ago people used old dull saw blades from hack saws to shed out their horses. Someone got smart and put leather on then end to give it a gentle on the hand handle. the first one was patented by Robert. J Quick. July 30, 1957 as a Animal grooming Impliment. pattent# US2800879

I doubt your shedding blade is an antique. I have one hanging in the barn that looks to be almost identical. Complete with leather. Mine is about 25 years old.

Annie T is referring to a curry comb and I believe the next answer is correct on the history.

Not too sure on that one. Are you sure it's real old or just real used?? Asking because my grandpa said that they didn't used to make them quite like that. They were the round ones with three blades.....one inside another, inside another, inside another. Try the wonderful google or another search engine! Good luck.
