Does flu make you lose your appetite?

Have you had flu (ordinary flu or otherwise)?

Did you lose your appetite?

Is loss of appetite a normal symptom when you have ordinary flu?

Only I have been cross-checking on wikipedia...

...and I very rarely lose mine.

The same virus can affect different people in different ways. The main symptoms of flu are a high temperature, listlessness, and usually a cough. Lack of appetite and aching limbs are also common, but not universal. Last dose of flu I had, I still wanted to eat, but everything tasted of string.

I have had flu twice, in different parts of the world.

Symptoms - ( main one) fever, headache, maybe hallucinations, total exhaustion. Not much of a cold, so runny nose and sore throat were not major problems, but time seemed to be distorted, I could not concentrate on anything, I couldn't think, I couldn't make sense of a book or newspaper. I lost track of time, whether it was day or night, and some of the time which passed was completely lost to me. I might have seen people, I might not - big chunks were blank.

If you don't know what fever feels like, it is when your skin feels ultra-sensitive to hot and cold and shuddery and shivery and burning at the same time.

The last thing you want to do is eat, but you must drink. You will probably feel as if you will never want to eat food again. Hot soup is comforting, though, but you might not taste it. If it is real flu, you may be as weak as a baby for a fortnight after the actual ilness has gone. It may be longer still before you get your full strength back.

    Yes

Proper seasonal flu, and not a cold, causes a loss of appetite

Yes it does. If you have real flu you barely have the strength to get up to go to the bathroom, so even if you felt like you should eat you wouldn't have enough energy to go and get the food. You don't even really want to drink - because that means more bathroom trips that sap your energy. But you have to drink so you just keep doing it because that is how it is.

I've only had the regular flu once, it knocked me for 6. It did make me less hungry but I think that was because of the aches and feeling pants. Plus I don't like eating in bed, it just feels wrong.
