using a pot, normal cap, and normal circuit stuff like op amps and transistors

A varicap is an electrically variable "capacitor", but only comes in fairly small values. So it's really going to depend on whether you can design a circuit suitable to these devices.
For some circuits, a reverse- biased Zener diode is adequate as a varicap/ varactor.
Apart from them, the only other way you might do the job is to employ stepper motors.

those are all good solutions. digital are usually designed to function for some years, electric some years. A shorted capacitor can take out different high priced stuff collectively as digital stuff is inexpensive and usually frivolous. extra significant, length is proportional to the max voltage score besides because of fact the capacitance, and small length is extra significant in electronics. Ac rated capacitors are greater than polarized capacitors coping with small ac factors, that's common for electronics. Neil

you can't.
A pot varies resistance, not capacitance.
Just buy a variable capacitor.

potentiometer can only varies resistance..
resistance and capacitance is 2 different things..

You might be thinking of a varactor or varicap diode.
