Justice David Souter is planning to retire - what kind of person will Obama want to nominate?

It will be some far left radical who's stance is for abortion, gun control, anti-10th amendment......

Someone intelligent, competent and well-versed in Constitutional Law.

I think the Supreme Court functions at its best when balanced with 3 centrist, 3 conservative and 3 liberal justices. Since Souter is left leaning and the court has 4 conservatives now, I think he'll nominate someone who's views are left leaning.

Personally, I'd like to see a justice who would consider a "28th Amendment" (Tort Reform) that would strip corporations of their 'person hood', thus subjecting them to the same oversight that existed for the first 100 years of U.S. history. Only individual (NOT corporate) rights are enumerated in the Constitution, yet the courts have been consistently extending those same constitutional rights to corporations thus establishing "corporate person hood". For example... in 1886, the Supreme Court granted a railroad corporation equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment (civil rights). For the first forty years after that amendment passed, there were 307 lawsuits brought, nineteen by African American men, the rest by corporations. We (the people) have the First Amendment right of free speech, but so do corporations. However free speech equals money, so those with more money have more speech.

I suppose it would be too much to hope that there would be a justice from anywhere across the political spectrum that would side with people's rights over corporate 'rights'. This is an issue I wish would have been embraced by the tea parties!!

All you need to do to get an idea of what type of person he will nominate is take a look at his cabinet appointees.That says it all.Scary huh?

Barack Obama will nominate a Radical Leftist who wants to do away with the Constitution of The United States of America.

Someone who makes, Danny glover, Sean Penn, Joy Behar, Rosie O'donnel, Michael Moore and Janine Garofalo look normal and sane.

Probably the same type of uber liberal whack job Souter is.

Someone who will look forward to destroying the country with pride.
