Dental: Trouble with CEREC Crowns?

I recently had several teeth rebuilt with Cerec inlays and crowns due to damage from amalgam fillings and bruxism.

Two rear molar crowns on my lower jaw continually trap small food particles between the crown and the gum line. I can get some cleaning with floss between the crowns, but it doesn't get the trapped stuff on the lingual side of the crowns. What do you recommend as a safe method of clearing out the trapped debris? My toothbrush isn't getting it.

Would a sonic toothbrush do a better job?

Also, how do I go about building up my gum tissue under the crowns to make a better seal?

Go back to your dentist and tell them the margins are open on your crowns!!! You will get decay under the crowns if you don't and have to have them redone at your expense later on! You should never trap food between the crown and your gums like that, it is an indication that something is not right.

The quick answer is NO. The ideal crown is the all gold crown. It is superior in every category except color. Porcelain has a tendency to fracture. While the people who promote, that they are just as strong refer only to their own reaserch and not independent research. Porcelain fused to metal is a compromise between all gold and all prcelain. If the porcelain fractures the tooth is still encased by the metal and hence "protected" since the metal will not fracture. I dont like cerec for many reasons, and dentist who pushed pushed because they purchased an expensive device and are looking to recoup their money. Cerec systems require glazing by a lab tech and many dentist skip this step on cerec and just cement an unglazed crown. Glazing is required to make the crown moe esthethic and biocompatiable.

my safe method to cleaning the lingual side (if floss is not working) then to just get cleanings. i know that was probably the last thing you were wanting to hear, but floss is probably the best method. try tying a knot in the floss and do it that way. it will develop a catch.

sonicare tooth brushes are wonderful. i use on myself and i would tell anyone to use one.

building up gum tissue without a graph is impossible. once the tissue is gone, you cannot build it up. recession is irreversible. (sorry to say)

cerec crown machines are in my opinion not as precise as the old fashioned way (sending them to the lab to be fabricated)

Gee....those old silver fillings weren't so bad were they....

You have a poorly made crown, complain about the open margin and get them to fix it......
