Is the Media, News, Newspapers, Reporters, ETC the Root of all Evil?!?
It seems that way...
Thoughts?
Their intention is to get the story and MONEY...so yeah...Money is involved still...They can be nasty, dirty people without hearts. I've witnessed many of them. Why can't they report the good news and stop talking about all the Drama like the stupid Celebs that have no life...
They make society think one way and most just follow in line. A lot of people are cold people because of the media and how they portray life in general. If people aren't skinny, they aren't accepted...ETC...I can be here all day explaining why I feel they are the root of all evil...they are like the bullies on the playground that kick up the negative and pass it around...
There was a time when a Wrestler was on CNN or one of those big stations...they edited parts of the interview out to make him look like he took roids. They said sorry and re-aired the whole interview online. It's stuff like that, that makes me sick! They make people look so bad, when really it's not the case.

Are you not capable of listening to different viewpoints, considering them, and coming to your own conclusions, based on the "facts" as YOU see them?

Absolutely not. The media often gets a very bad rap, but believe me, not every media outlet has the same code of conduct (or lack therof) as Fox News.
I want you to know, I've been a sports reporter for over two years now at a newspaper (I'm the youngest person to ever work there). I do it to help pay for school part time and to be perfectly honest, the people that I have the privledge of working with are some of the most dedicated, professional and honest out there.
There is a huge difference between a real reporter, regardless of whether they are print, radio or television journalists, and members of the paparazzi like Perez Hilton and TMZ. Yes, there are unquestionably people in the media who lack morals and use their influence with the public to their advantage. But that's true of any profession. It's pretty difficult to pin down a job where every one who works in that field is perfect. Heck, not even every President has been perfect.
Do some media outlets fear monger to boost ratings? Absolutely, and I agree, that is wrong. But for the most part, the media plays an extremely important role in modern day society. If the media wasn't around, the government would have unlimited power. It is the media, again, for the most part, that acts as watchdogs. You don't have to look any further than Richard Nixon. The media have been responsible for uncovering some major stuff over the years.
As for reporting the good news, it is true that the majority of what you see tends to be negative. One of the reporters I work with, he's a news guy, once told me: "As horrible as this sounds, the bulk of the news will always be bad. After all, a house that doesn't catch on fire isn't news". I know that sounds terrible, but it has a measure of truth to it.
It is true that the media can shape a story to look like they want it, and in the information age with 24-hour news stations all over the world, they are constantly competing with each other to get the first scoop. That can lead some in the media to jump the gun and say things to the public without checking all of their facts. I get that.
Take the Chris Benoit incident for example. That monster (I know he was a great wrestler, but that's what he was, a monster) murdered his family and created international headlines. Now the media, which never reports on wrestling and therefore knows next to nothing about it, went right ahead to try and present something different to make themselves stand out. So they bashed wrestling and accused wrestlers of being steroid junkies. That was wrong.
I know the media isn't perfect. While it is essential in our society, it is also a business, and like any business, they are trying to make money. I've seen first hand how some reporters can take short cuts and print mis-leading articles. But overall I think that the vast majority of people in the media have a ton of integrity.

No. Some of what the reporters report is about the worst in society, with crimes, etc. but they are reporting what goes on. When there is 'happy news' on, a lot of people complain that it is not 'really news'.
I agree there are a lot of negative things out there, and some of the media, things like TMZ, are nothing but following celebrities around to see if they do something wrong. That is not news, and tabloid papers in the stores, all about the latest scandals, that is not really news.
But actual network news or newspapers, if you think it is 'evil' don't watch or read. If you are not interested in the news or can not sort out what is good (I mean well done) news and what is tabloid garbage, don't watch.

The root of ALL evil? No
A very big part of it? Yeah! I mean, think about it. I know it's their "job" to report all the news but it seems that they constantly report the bad stuff. Murders, kidnappings, more economic trouble . . . when was the last time they reported something good and heartwarming as their top story? They spread bad feelings and fears around with their constant bad news. I mean, they should report a major crime that affected us but everyday, non-stop, over exaggerating it???? It's not right. The media has a lot of influence as millions watch it every day and they poison our minds with all this fear. I'm sick of it.

No, they have a heart, and report the news that troubles them and the nation. They see a starving child, or a wounded person, they run with the cameras to show how these people hurt. If hey experience scandal in government they are disappointed and hurt too and report the news to us.
America is still a very strong nation, yet we do have homeless men and children in our streets, children sick and unable to get any medication, men leaving their families because he can't find a job and his family may apply for welfare, suicides are on the increase in America.
No, its the wealthy who drive past these fellow Americans and close the windows of their limousines. Who send letters to their Representatives in Washington to prevent them from helping the unfortunate poor. Some time in the Future Jesus, God, supreme spirit, Suma, will say''
I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was naked and you did not cloth me, I was thirsty and gave me no drink....''
When you did not do it the least of your brothers or sisters you didn't do it for me''' The rest of the phrase is go to hell, or something like that

Love of money is the root of all evil, and the media sure tells us we should love money, so I'd go along with them being part of the problem.

The bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil, but the press is next in line.
