Hey! Ho! Nobody home. Would you like a little tome?

things we say

life goes on

i’ve seen it all before

people come and people go

perhaps i am more fortunate

the crisis passes

all the funny pieces all the segments all the pain

i was too frightened to go insane

fear welds the scattered pieces of the spirit

and pain brings the mind into focus

looking now at the wide white walls

i see the long thin cracks in the plaster

and read the names of the presidents

administrators and the donors

they gave their lives

so we could live

I’m all right

i’ll be well again soon

i’m getting better, really

I am

i am

Update:

Sorry, yes. I wrote this. No reference ...

Reminds me of the first day out of bed (IV in tow) and the long walk - down a hospital corridor. Seeing all the pictures and plaques - on the walls - through new eyes. Hope everything is fine with you ♥

Hi, read your other posting...but, was just off to bed and too tired to write anything worthy of you, so I didn't respond (so I felt guilty when I saw the question)

Any road up....as usual this is a great read. What I love about your poetry is its spontaneity and flashes of genius...and I see that here.

I don't know where to go to single out phrases for special appreciation (but I admit 'I was too frightened to go insane' does it for me, and the 'looking now.................plaster' bit satisfies my poetic needs.

ps - I think my comment for yesterday's piece was going to be along the lines of 'This is so different from your usual style, but is, as always, a wonderful effort' I'm off out now, so I haven't time to revisit it.
