Help with application form ? (yes, another one)?

One of the boxes wants details of my - Ability to meet deadlines.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

Oh, and the other one is - Ability to communicate effectively with team members, internal clients and suppliers.

Both of these wretched sections are to be used in shortlisting.

Any help you can give gratefully received.

For the first one, the company wants to know that you can organise your time and prioritise your workload so you don't miss deadlines often. You could write something like "I have excellent organisational skills and this helps me meet my deadlines. I manage and prioritise my workload using a diary and a daily to-do list, taking into account urgent work that may be given to me at short notice." and then give an example from any of your recent jobs/school experience.

The second one is about your interpersonal skills - how you communicate with a wide range of people and how you handle conflict. You could start with something like "I have excellent written and verbal communication skills and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and the public. My previous job/course involved regular communication with internal and external staff " and then give an example. A good example would be when you were faced with an irate person. You could write briefly what the problem was, how you solved their problem and that they left happy and satisfied with the resolution.

What they want is for you to tell them that you meet those criteria and to demonstrate *how* you meet each criterion. You can only do this by giving examples from your jobs, schools or your daily life. Think of good, interesting examples. It will help you stand out more.

    Good luck.

These competencies are very important for most job roles

The second question wants to know if you are able to:

    - create and maintain good working relationship with all suppliers and colleagues. If so, in what way do you manage to do this?

-Provide knowledgeable, courteous, and professional service at all times. Do you establish a rapport with customers and colleagues to learn their needs and expectations, and provide peace-of-mind service with a personal touch.

    - Do you have strong written and verbal communication skills. Are you able to communicate face to face, over the telphone and through email/letter etc?

Try this link which will help you think of examples where you have communicated effectively to all of the above people.

For deadlines, try saying that you prioritise workloads, you are realistic when setting deadlines, you complete the most important jobs first and concentrate on the less important ones but still leave enough time for error or any unforseen problems that may arise , you try to remain organised (naturally giving you more time).

    Good luck!!

Just write any time you met a deadline or communicated effectively. Just think back.
