How do you get rid of the alcohol smell from yeast when baking?

Whenever my mom bakes with yeast, her breads always come out with a really strong alcohol smell which we have no idea how to reduce or get rid of. Since we're not crazy about bread that smells like beer, how can we reduce or get rid of the smell.

Edit: There used to be a bakery down the street from me and the baking bread always smelled delicious. My mom's doesn't smell like the bread that you get in the bakery.

It actually does smell like beer.

We use Fleishmans active dry yeast (in the jar)

    Sounds like your Mom is using cake yeast. Switch to granular.

    Actually, beer smells like bread. It's just a function of how beer is made. It's been called "liquid bread" and is made from some of the same ingredients. The people who made the beer are often the same people who grew the grain. It's a great way to convert extra grain into a form that can be preserved for a long time. Sort of similar to the milk-cheese relationship.

    You can try adding some aromatic elements to your bread. A bit of zest, cinnamon, cloves, rosemary, sage, garlic, jalapeno, etc.

    Also, you can try adding a oven-safe bowl with a few tables spoons of baking soda. I have not tried it, but it might work.

    i admire that smell! I as quickly as had the assumption to marketplace a product. It became into like that frozen bread dough you purchase on the grocery keep to bake at residing house. different than that is plenty greater particularly low priced. You bake it in the oven and it makes your place smell like bread, after which you throw it away. It wasn't for the bread in any respect, merely the smell. 8^) Up the throughway from the place I stay the throughway is going genuine previous between the biggest bread bakeries in the international. was you need to smell it for a pair of mile of throughway! I enjoyed it! Then sooner or later you need to no longer smell it anymore. It became out that wonderful heat bread smell is created from hydrocarbons that make a contribution to smog! so as that they made them clear out their exhaust. 8^<

    If they made a candle in that scent, I'd buy it! I love the smell of bread rising and baking!

    How about burning a candle? Or using less yeast? Or more salt? Or rising for less time?

    the smell is fermentation. it's a natural part of yeast rising and beer uses yeast too.
