When starting up an air conditioner?
When starting up an air conditioner (whole house) after the winter idle time should you cycle it on and off, say for 15 min. a few times ( 15 on.....15 off 15 on) to mix the oil and refrigerant before running full time?
these compressors are not similar to those in automotive use? where the oil and refrigerant run in the same line?

no specific procedure,,,just turn it on when needed...best to test it before it gets hot so you get ahead of the crowd that will be calling for service....best to wait to turn it on until its 70 deg or so outside,or until outdoor temp is a few degrees above indoor temp..that way you minimize the amout of liquid refrigerant that is laying in the compressor upon startup......also,oil does circulate through the system but nothing you need to be concerned with........dan

Just turn it on and use. The oil stays in the compress. It is the only moving part in the sealed refrigerant system. Use the appropriate oil to lubricate the evaporator and condenser fan motors if they are oil able. This does not mean WD or 3in 1.
A 30 weight non detergent motor oil is best. Just 3or 4 drops.
