Very HIGH page file usage, at least 1.6GB?

Well my PC isn't running very smoothly of course. I've noticed that my page file usage was unusually high. So I set it very low since I have 3GB of RAM. It was still very high. So I disabled it totaly, and yes I've rebooted billions of times since.

Still no progress, The physical RAM stays normal, firefox is the current process that's using the most RAM. The RAM usage stays the same with page filing off or on.

Even on idle the pf stays at least 1.6GB, nothing lower.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'd suggest going crazy with virus and malware scans. Use your virus scanner or avast! and a combination of AdAware, SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D. One thing that like to eat up a lot of resources and seems innocent enough is Indexing. Turn it off... Check out my HubPages for the software and how to turn off Indexing Service (XP, but can be adapted...)

How plenty exchange area do you go with? That relies upon the quantity of RAM you have and the courses you utilize. the guideline of the thumb is one million.5 cases the quantity of device memory, till you have too plenty load on your device. If the point is merely too intense then upgrading the Ram often is the subsequent decision
