Difference between 1.57, 1.61 and 1.67 index lenses?

My prescription is:

OD-SPH: -9.25 X OD-CYL: -0.75 OD-AXIS: 15

OS-SPH: -8.75 X OS-CYL: -0.75 OS-AXIS: 165

Yes, its bad I know. I usually wear contacts but I'm wanting a change so I'm trying glasses.

So I ordered glasses online and they arrived today. I'm very pleased with the frame but the lenses are a little thicker than what I thought. I have 1.57 index now because it came free. I have thicker plastic frames so they are not very noticeable but would I get more benefit or visual clarity if I go with a 1.67 lens? Or would I not notice anything other than a thinner lens? As I said I have thicker plastic frames and I don't plan on getting the rimless or half rim frames so am I good? Or am I missing something by not having the 1.61 or 1.67 lenses?

Yes, the 1.67 in a power like that would give you a good % better clarity. Exactly how much better is impossible to calculate , but it would be quite noticeable.

Your lenses at 1.57 must be polycarbonate, which is quite inferior, optically speaking, in powers over + / - 3.00 diopters.

Don't be surprised if you see colored " fringes" around many objects in certain light conditions. That is a problem with Polycarbonate.

Ordering on-line glasses from Hong Kong doesn't help much with expert advice for the layman.

A 18mm is extensive perspective- very virtually like a fish eye lens. 55mm is on the brink of easily genuine existence length. 135mm is telephoto- you could optically zoom into products closer than they look on your eye. and there is image compression (products sort of optically compressed closer to one yet another- some people like this result). I think of the single that is going to one hundred thirty five is extra high priced, yet once you're doing extremely some capturing, that's going to be well worth it. With the 55mm, you would be able to desire to wind up doing extremely some cropping in photoshop basically for the reason which you could not seem to get close adequate.

    Hi!

1.57 INDEX IS NOT REALLY THE LENS OF CHOICE IN THAT POWER.

    1.60 OR HIGHER IS BETTER.

BUT SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY NOTICE WORSE VISUAL ACUITY WITH THE HIGHER INDEX, SO IF YOU ARE OK WITH THE THICKNESS, THEN YOU WON'T SEE ANY REAL BENEFIT WITH HIGHER INDEX.

I WOULD NORMALLY RECOMMEND 1.60 INDEX WITH THE BEST ANTI-REFLECTION COATING YOU CAN BUY.

(AND DON'T BUY THEM ONLINE) :)
