The fuel filter on a 97 Camry is located on the firewall, on the driver side of the engine compartment, right above the transmission. This is not easy to change. Suggest that the engine to be cold when attempting this to avoid getting burns from the hot engine. Note also that when the filter is removed, fuel may still be under pressure, and it my spray for a bit. Now, here is the bad news: Toyota fuel filters are notoriously overtightened when assembled at the factory. When you remove the filter, be careful the threads from the line running from the bottom of the filter (to the fuel tank)do not strip out when you remove that line, or you could very well need to replace that line, along with the filter. Finally, always use new copper gaskets when replacing the filter (it should come with 2 new gaskets).
