How do dead bacteria decompose?

They can't all be snagged by some other decomposer... do they just eventually disintegrate?

    In addition to the previous answer, Other live bacteria surrounding the dead bacteria will consume (cannibalize) its neighbor for nutrients.

  • bacteria are like plants and humans. They are living things. So, they also rot and decompose like plants. Either microscopic fungi decompose it, or they just become a dry husk. like corn husks.
