    The sales were 350,000. Salesperson earns 6% of that so we need to find 6% of 350,000.

    6% in decimal for is .06. We can multiply 350,000 by .06 to get 6%

    (.06)(350000)= 21,000

    So the salesperson earns 21,000 by commission.

    They earn this PLUS their base salary of 32,000.

    So we add them together: 32,000 +21,000= 53,000

    The salesperson earned a total pay of $53,000 for the year.

    Write 4 and 1/2 % as a decimal.

    well 1/2= .5

    So 4 and 1/2% is the same as 4.5%

    To turn into a decimal just move the decimal point over to the left 2 places.

    .045 is the answer.

    let p = salesperson's total pay

    p = 32000 + 350000(0.06)

    = 32000 + 21000

    = 53000

    4 and 1/2 % = 0.045
