Best thing is to use Fluorescent Lighting like CFL and Tube Lights and the latest is LED Lights. A 100 Watt Incandescent Bulb burns 1 Unit (1KW) in 10 hrs.
so,
100watt*10=1000Watt= 1KW
a 20 watt CFL burns 0.2 Unit in 10 hrs.
20watt*10=200 watt= 0.2KW
So, Saving is 1-0.2 = 0.8 KW
considering rate as Rs. 5 per KW
Saving is 5*0.8= 4 Rs.
So u save Rs. 4 in 10 hrs with just one CFL in place of bulb.

First, remember that you are saving energy, not power.
The best way to save energy on electrical lighting is to use fluorescent bulbs. A 23 watt fluorescent bulb produces as much visible light as a 100 watt incandescent bulb. Furthermore, fluorescent lamps last several times longer than incandescent ones. For your computation, use $0.10 per kilowatt hour, assume that an incandescent bulb lasts 1000 hours, and a fluorescent lamp lasts 6000 hours (minimum).

The best and most practicable methods are:
i) Use as much natural light as possible
ii) Use CFL lamps in place of GLS lamps
iii) Use T-8 or T-5 Tubes in place of conventional tubes
iv) Use electronic ballsts in place of electro-magnetic ballasts in tube light fittings
v) Inculcate in people, the habit of switching OFF lights, fans & ACs when not in use.
vi) Have occupancy sensors connected to lighting loads

It relies upon on how many lighting fixtures and how long they are on. often lighting fixtures is approximately 15% of your electric powered invoice. in case you alter all your lighting fixtures from incandescent to CFL you will shrink that element by potential of seventy 5%. occasion your month-to-month invoice is $one hundred, 15% could be $15, cfl's use a million/4 the capability so which you're able to save $11.25 according to month. i do no longer think in changing working bulbs, so I quite have been changing bulbs as they burn out, my theory is, if i take advantage of them lots they're going to burn out quicker. i began out changing bulbs approximately 4 or 5 years in the past. I nevertheless have some incandescents, i assume i do no longer use those lighting fixtures very in many circumstances.
