How often should I bath my dog?

He is a Pomeranian. We often go walking on trails and he sometimes gets a bit dusty or muddy. But I don't want to bath him too often and dry out his skin.

A full bath should be done no more than once a month. You can wash feet, wipe your dog down, comb out the dirt etc. in between.

Once a month is fine brush daily to prevent mating professionally groomed once a month.

Never have your Pom shaved clipped as this can and will damage the coat.

    Grooming for a Pom

Pre bath brush sanitary trim this means for your dog the penis area trimmed to keep your dog clean and sanitary along with a trim around the dogs rectum to keep the poo from sticking to the fur.

    Nails trimmed

    Bath

    Anal gland expressed

    Coat blow out

Once dry the coat will be brushed and combed out

    Ears cleaned

    Feet trimmed

This is all the grooming the Pom gets.

Pomeranians have to be groomed every month, so the people at the groomers would give him a bath. If not that then I would just bathe him when he gets very dirty with mud all over him. If its just a little dust or tiny bits of dirt on his hair just take a wet rag and rub it on his fur and try removing the dirt and dust.

    hi,

Most dogs would rather skip bath time, but bathing plays an important role in the health of your dog's coat and skin, helping to keep your dog clean and free of dirt and parasites. And of course, there's the added benefit of making your pooch more pleasant to be around.

    here are some guidelines:

    hope this helps.

Just bathe when you think you need to. Better yet there are all kind of website on breeds of dogs and they will let you know all different things. Try that!

I do my golden retriver once a month. It works out pretty well, when he gets dusty or dirty I just use a strong short bristled brush to briskly brush dirt out and wipe him down with a warm wet towel.

i only bathe my dog when she starts to smell funny or is really dirty. my vet told me that washing a dog too much will strip their natural oils on their skin and they can get really itchy and will start to chew and dig at their skin. also bathing dogs a lot can lead to ear infections in some dogs. when water gets in their ears it is not only irritating but can lead to ear infections if it stays down in there.

Poms should be professionally groomed every month to shampoo, trim the coat and nails etc. Poms fur can become matted and tangled if not groomed properly and the hair kept in check.
