Mind twister riddle!!! (I'm back!)?

OK, here goes...

I borrowed $50 from my mom, and $50 from my dad.

I now have $100, correct? OK.

I bought a shirt worth $97. (whoa, expensive!)

I now have $3 left, right? OK. I gave $1 to mom, and $1 to dad.

The remaining $1 is with me.

Now, I only owe $49 to mom and $49 to dad, correct?

Fine. Now, here's the mind twister:

$49 + $49 = $98.

I now add the $1with me...

$49 + $49 = $98 + $1 = $99

What happened to the missing $1...?

Update:

Uhh... most of you guys got half a right answer... but then...

The correct answer has something to do with a reverse paradox equation wherin I owe mom and dad $49 EACH, I add them together to get $98, and the other $1 with me... to get $99.

I have no money left after the puzzle, yet I still owe them $1. How come?

And no, there are no fractions or pennies, nickles, quarters or dimes in the final answer.

Mind Boggling, ain't it...?

:D

And finally, There is only ONE true and correct answer.

And a hint:

"After you have eliminated the Red Herring, the answer is right before your eyes."

    $50 + $50 = $97 + $3.

    $49 + $49 = $97 + $1

Basically the problem is that the $1 goes on the other side of the equation, and you're forgetting the value of the shirt, which is $97.

The $1 is part of the $98 that you still owe your parents.

"Now, I only owe $49 to mom and $49 to dad, correct?"

-= You do not actually owe your mom & dad 1$ since you only have 1$ left.. In that case, you only owe 2 quart dollars to your mom & another 2 quart dollars to your dad..

    computation:

    100$ = 97$ + 3$

-= then you divide 3 dollars to 3

    1$ = mom

    1$ = dad

1$ = now this is the only remaining, in that case, you only owe half a dollar to mom & half a dollar to dad to make up the 1 dollar..

    There isn't one?

    You gave your parents $2

You owe them $97 cause you've got the other one dollar with you, you didn't give it back, you either owe your mom or your dad $1 more dollar.
