Libertarians: Do you find yourself agreeing with Democrats or Republicans more?
I do not consider myself a Libertarian, but I am very very interested in the party and may become a part of it with more research and information.
If I did consider myself a Libertarian, I would probably say that I agree more with Democrats. Though they seem to typically be for "big government", I much rather their take on social issues.
I ask any Libertarians here: do you find yourself agreeing more with Democrats or Republicans? Why?

A large portion of Libertarians are Constitutionalists, like myself. The constitution calls for a limited federal government that can only do specific duties, nothing more. The other powers go to the States and the People. Since Democrats want the federal government to have increased control of our lives, I must say that I cannot support them. Many on the GOP side favor limited government as well as the right of the states to decide "moral and ethical" issues, such as gay marriages/unions and abortion.

LOL
Some of these idiots claiming to be libertarians don't even understand the Libertarian ideals.
Support most of the Democrat social issues, or at least oppose the government making the decisions on them while supporting many of the Republican fiscal policies, as long as the are actually conservative in nature instead of frivolous squandering of tax dollars to make the cowards feel safe.
too many idiot neocons trying to claim they are libertarians or conservatives instead of what they really are.
Rip and Boss have the best answers here that show they actually understand what a libertarian is.

I can't say that I'm in agreement with one more than the other. I get slammed by both pretty equally here on Yahoo, but in all I agree with the Libertarian principles and not those of the the Democrats or Republicans.

Depends on what issues are coming up.
Right now, Obama's big spending is foremost on my mind. I was upset enough at Bush's spending & now Obama has spent more in 3 months than Bush did in 3 years!
But if Sarah Palin had made it to the white house, I would likely be disagreeing with her as much as I am disagreeing with Obama.
I went to a big tea party in Fort Worth in April and was NOT happy that some of the Republicans decided to bring the abortion debate into the rally!

I am beginning to see myself as a Constitutional Libertarian, through as of now, I am still a registered Republican. I will always have more in common with Republicans, though I get along with "Blue Dog" Democrats as well. I am a Second Amendment supporter, I believe big government will be the death of us all, and I have a moral aversion to abortion and gay marriage (though I am ok with Civil Unions & their right to gain access to their partner's benefits-it's just not "marriage").

I'm a Conservative Libertarian, so naturally I side with the Republicans.
When it comes to social issues I personally am very Conservative, but I don't feel it should be up to the Federal Government to decide.
The decision should be given to the States, where we can vote on it and decide......instead of some Supreme Court, hand-picked bureaucrat.
The more power the States have, the more power 'WE THE PEOPLE' have. There's a reason why Liberals love BIG GOVERNMENT....it takes away our voices.

I agree with Republicans more on less government and lower taxes. They haven't lived up to it very well though. I'm also pro-life, so I guess overall I'm more in-line with Republicans.

Libertarians are socially liberal, and extreme fiscal conservatives.
This is the reason they are usually denounced as liberals or libertines by neocons.
Anyone who believes otherwise don't have a good grasp on the concept of libertarian beliefs.
