My computer freezes up seconds after logging in.?

I turn on my Ee-PC laptop, running Windows XP, and it will come on fine, I can log in my user. Then I have between 5 and 30 seconds before everything just freezes. The mouse can still move, but nothing will respond. The only thing I can do is turn it off.

I have been able to, while it's working, pull up task manager and look at the process list. I noticed a process called zy2e7.exe that appears and suddenly multiple copies of which begin to fill the list. Once about 20 or 30 copies of it come up, the computer freezes.

I can boot my computer up in safe mode, and most things work fine.

What is wrong, or what can I do to help it?

Thanks to anyone who reads this ^^

    At a guess it's the zy2e7.exe :-)

WARNING - this seems to be quite a 'new' problem and you should check MULTIPLE SOURCES of information before downloading and running any 'tool' that claims to eliminate the inflection.

It's a COMMON TRICK to post up something FAR WORSE than some simple annoyance and then con innocent users into installing it .. some people have even discovered that have installed an encryption tool that encrypts their entire hard disk and then blackmails them into paying money for a 'unlock key' ...

It's possible that a virus is loading on start up and hogging your processor or has damaged the integrity of important system files. A solution is to try and boot in safe mode with networking and run an anti-virus program. Still having problems? Backup your data and re-install the Operating System.

either you reinstall xp or in the time u have before it freezes do the following: go to start open the program run and type in "msconfig". You should get a window saying system conguration, go to the startup tab and uncheck the program ur saying opens on startup and then restart. Hopefully when u restart the compputer it doens't freeze, now you should can your computer and get rid of whatever viruses you may have.

When your computer freezes up, one of the major causes is registry errors and corrupt files. The registry controls all the information the computer uses to communicate with software, hardware, and device drivers. When there are errors in the system the information cannot be computed leading the CPU to freeze up or crash. You may even see the Windows "Blue screen of death".

My recommendation is to scan your computer with a top flight registry cleaner. This is a lot easier and cheaper than bringing it to the computer repair shop. You can get a free scan and diagnosis at

It pretty much recommends a reinstall of the operating system.

    Sorry brother...

Have you tried removing the battery while it is turned on? I am told it must remain out for at least 3 minutes.
