Is it true that PETA fakes its animal cruelty evidence?
I recently heard this for the first time and wanted to know what you guys think about it! How much is really true? How much suffering to animals actually go through when being raised for consumption? Lots? None? I want first-hand evidence here, people!
Hmm, no answers. Perhaps I should have posted this elsewhere. Oh, well!

Animals raised for consumption often do go through horrible conditions. What PETA says about chickens grown so fast that they cannot walk is completely true. It is also true, however, that PETA will manipulate facts and evidence to make it seem worse than it actually is. For example if they catch one employee mistreating animals they will say all employees are. This does not really make the crime of the employee any less worse, however. PETA might misconstrue some of their facts about abuse of animals for consuption, but the message they give is very valid and true.
The parts of PETA which I disagree strongly with, however, are their policies regarding the pet trade and captive animals. They mass euthanize dogs and cats to "liberate" them from humans, and advocate the banning of all animals kept as pets. Openly they only advocate the banning of exotics, but this includes all reptiles, rodents, birds, and fish. More of their "undercover" dealings are not known to the public that involve questionable activity and even known terrorist activity such as bombing animal testing facilities. No lie, you can research it yourself.
Acts of PETA, for example, would be to find a pet store with many mistreated sick reptiles and other animals, and instead of rehabilitating them and finding them loving homes, they will euthanize all the animals, claiming that to place them into homes would be inhumane because people shouldn't keep exotic animals in the first place.
PETA also spreads false information and attempts to get bills passed on this false information. The recent HR 669 bill is an example of PETA legislation.
Also the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is a similar society to PETA. This society is NOT associated with local humane societies and really does little to help animals with the millions of funds it obtains.
In conclusion, PETA does spread some useful information that helps animals slaughtered for consuption, but also detriments pets and captive animals severely.

Some PETA members have been known to use doctored video, beat animals themselves and out right lied about various things. I have not heard of anyone of them being booted out of the organization. It is possible that it happened though.
For the most part PETA is a good organization and as big as it is, has bad apples in it.
How they deal with those people, I haven't a clue.
I suggest you web search some organizations that has been up against PETA and decide yourself what is happening.

I say a lot, because they receive no love and compassion. They are kept in barns where (for some) there is really not anything soft for them to lay on or stand on. They are pumped full of hormones. Thinking of how animals are killed for consumption is why I am a vegetarian. It's inhumane IMHO.

No one abusing animals is going to tell you! If you want first hand evidence then you need to go investigate. I personally believe that people producing animals as a product do not care much about their care. They care about producing a product.
