Parent destroys child's expensive property?

Does an under 18 have any legal course of action if their parent destroys their property?

The item in question was an expensive, limited edition collectible doll, worth over $500. The child saved and paid for it them self, and the parent destroyed it because they thought it was evil...

This child deserves $500 plus a good set of foster parents.

It's wrong, it's abusive and it's a more than a little scary, but I doubt if it's against the law. People under eighteen, for the most part, have about the same rights as the family dog.
