Does anyone know how I can change a video from QuickTime Movie to be able to import into Windows Movie Maker?

I need to import some videos to combine into one....but my dumb Windows Vista laptop plays all my movies in QuickTime Movie, and they won't import to Windows Movie Maker. Why is this? I have tried converting them and they STILL don't upload! I really need to be able to combine several clips into one movie, so that I don't have to upload all onto Youtube at different times.

PLEASE help me if you know what to do. I don't want to deal with conversions or anything that's insanely complicated and ends up not working when it says it will. I'm tired of doing that. I want information on to change it without using a converter, and so that it WILL actually work.

Or is there a QuickTime Movie thing out there I can download to be able to combine clips, add music, titles, and do other editing?

Thanks

Emily

Update:

Thanks everyone. I'll try your ideas...first I have to reload QuickTime as I took it off, and now have a different movie player, VLS or something like that...

Will update you all and tell you how it goes. :)

To put QuickTime movie videos onto Windows Movie Maker, you will have to convert those files with a file converting software such as SUPER (free download) or if you are using a good video editing software such as DVD Slideshow Builder (this is what I use) or something comparable then your files don't have to be converted. You can just add them to the program and start from there.

I know a program can combine video clips, you just need to check the "merge into one file" box before conversion, and it can convert video between various formats such as quicktime (.mov), windows media (.wmv), etc.
