how to get a stronger router signal?

i have a netgear wg311t router. at my old house, the signal was always around 97%. after i moved (only 5 miles away), it is always around 70%. my computer is only 2 rooms away from the router.

and around every 40 minutes (and sometimes 5 minutes), even though netgear locates my router's signal, my computer gets disconnected. i have to keep resetting my network's password to connect.

help?

Log into your router and change the frequency. This either means a nearby network is using the same channel or a neighbor might have a cordless phone that is causing interference.

For best results, select a channel that is 2 channels away from the nearest network. So if you have neighbors on channel 1 and channel 5, you might try channel 3.

...One more thing. Since you moved into the new home, you may have thicker walls with better insulation. This will definitely lower your signal.

I can try to help with the signal problem.

Reduced signal quality can be caused by interference. Routers have a setting inside the control panel that lets you select the channel. If you have a way to see what channels are in use already, select the channel farthest away from anything else. If you cannot see what channels are in use try this:

    Your accessible range is 1-11

IF you have a channel of 1 try 11

if that doesn't work, making it worse, try 6, if that is worse than either switch back to 1.

Basically change the value until you notice a change for the good.

Move it closer... The house might be built better with the materials of the walls, allowing the signal to bounce up and down... Try to move the router closer and near a door or window... Make sure no microwave is near it too...

By the way, to the guy on the top, the only channels that do not overlap with each other are channels 1, 6, and 11. So, if their neighbor is on channel 1, switch it to 11 or 6 and vice versa...
