How can I receive credit for my car payments?
My dad took out an auto loan for me. I co-signed on the application. I've been making all payments and have never been late. But now my dad is receiving the credit for this. Is there any way possible to show the creditors I've been making the payments therefore I should be receiving the credit?

In any case, I would talk to the finance company or bank and see if they can report it to your credit as well. You may need to rewrite the loan. Tell them it is important, and you need to earn credit so YOU can be their customer one day. They should help you; don't let them charge you a big "loan origination fee" or jack up your interest. If they do, talk to another lender about getting a loan, with you as primary and your dad as co-borrower or co-signer. Good luck!

Sorry but you can not. The only way that you will receive the credit for the car notes is if you are the primary borrower on the car, and your dad is listed as co-signer.
The only way is to refinance the loan with you as primary borrower

If you are a true co-signer, it does not matter who actually pays on the loan. Since both of you would be equally responsible, any negative or positive reporting would be on both of your reports.
So if this is showing up on his credit report, it should be showing up on yours also. If it is not showing up on yours the first thing you should do contact the bank that has the loan. It could be a situation where they don't have your correct information.

Have you checked your credit report. It should be showing on both peoples credit report. If not contact the company that financed the loan and let them know you are the one paying the loan. Your dad may have to call it depends on the company.

I doubt that you "cosigned" for your dad. Either HE is the sole borrower, he cosigned for you or you are coborrowers (there's a difference). Sounds like he is the sole borrower, in which case it will not show on your credit history.

No, you should have been the primary on the car with your dad as co-signer.
