When using a cisco 3560, how do I get the IP of a device when all I have is the port it is on or the MAC?
Something like 'show mac address-table | inc Gi0/7" will not work because the device may or may not be in the arp table. I can not ping it because I don't know the IP.

do you know if CDP is enabled on both the 3560 and the other device (if it's also cisco)? Otherwise, you may have some luck with LLDP which is the non-cisco-proprietary way of discovering neighbors on a link. Here's a link on how to configure that on your 3560.
