NO.
What if someone stole or cloned my ID card - how do I prove that I AM ME lol??
Wouldn't it be great if NO-ONE applied for one so the Government and their fat cat compadres were sent off slinking back to Whitehall and forced to abolish this ludicrously expensive scheme? They already flog details about us from the DVLA database and electoral roll, how many more databases do they want us listed on so they can sell it - or lose it?
It's the police who should be required to prove their identity to us, not the other way around. Who exactly was being violent, secretive and trying to hide their identity during the latest demo in London? The police, not the 'anarchists'.
And to those who say 'I have nothing hide' - tell that to the Pakistani students who were arrested in that bungled swoop in Cheetham Hill for no other reason than police ineptitude.

Hell No!!
I have nothing to hide but i still dont want another file on me being held without anyone giving me a convincing reason why my passport (which i've already paid for) is suddenly inadequate.
Anything can be hacked or faked in this day and age so ID cards aren't going to be any different.
Having ID cards will just open more doors for people to take advantage of us.

No! Manchester will vote no again. You would have thought that the government would have learnt that Manchester will not accept ridiculous extra taxation proposals like the congestion charge or the identity charge!

Unfortunately I believe in the near future you will not be able to do any thing with out one>
IE get a Doctors appointment or a dentist.
Buy a plane ticket or leave the country.

I don't know why anyone would CHOOSE to spend 60 quid on one of these. I've already got a photocard driving license (which you have to pay for also) so why should I?

If you have nothing to fear or hide, and there are places where with a pin code you can check your details are still correct, and have them corrected if not. And if they are going to be used fully i.e. driving, medical, age etc, then they will be a good thing to stop illegals working, claiming benefits etc. This would also save the country billions of pounds, so in that case make them compulsory but FREE.
