How do i make my dog less protective/aggressive?
I have an american eskimo...and shes not aggressive while were walking or out places, but when we are at home and she is tied up on a rope (we dont have a fenced yard and we live in a mobile home)and people pass she will try to run at them, and she has even broken off the leah a few times. She doesnt bite skin, but she will sometimes bite gloves, pants etc.She also barks and growls A LOT when people pass...and i was wondering how to make her kind and calm to people when they are walking past...any suggestions, thanks in advance

She should not be tied up without supervision. This will help much of the problem.
One of the reasons she is aggressive on that tie out is because she's left unprotected. She HAS to be aggressive to make other animals avoid her. On that line, should ANY animal approach her, she's a sitting duck and she knows it.

You obviously have a wonderful dog She has a dreadful and miserable existence tied onto a chain, which could drive any dog mad. Hence my surprise that she is not aggressive when she is loose.
Presumably you lived in your mobile home without a fenced garden when you bought her. Caring people do not get dogs if they cannot provide safe accommodation for their dogs. Please don't say that people who are capable of providing accommodation for their dogs are lucky, they consider a dogs future and welfare BEFORE they get a dog.
If you take your dog on long walks she will be tired and she could stay inside. If you want to make your dog kind you should be kind to her and let her live in your mobile home. Please either get your dog rescued before she does some serious damage or let her live inside.

A small dog that would go perfect with your Golden Retriever would be a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The are basically a miniature version of a Golden having the exact same temperament as a Golden. Even there hair is exactly the same only its comes in 4 different color variations. One being a solid Ruby color like the Golden retriever. The only difference is they have ears like the Cocker Spaniel. Cavaliers do exceptionally well with living with big dogs. They hardly ever bark. They are not like your typical "small dog". :)

Unfortunately dogs on a leash feel like they are unable to properly protect themselves so they show defensive behavior to ward off any potential predator. Bringing your dog in the house where she cannot see people when they pass will help. Sitting out there and correcting her bad behavior will also help. Giving treats when someone walks by and she doesn't bark is a great way to reinforce positive behaviors. I use a clicker to train my dogs, it works great. Look into clicker training.

An animal is at risk tied to a rope for starters and needs a safe enclosure from other animals and people. The rope is encouraging aggression.
This breed needs alot of exercise and activity as well.Isn't this a working breed?

You need to find a different solution and get her off that rope. Dogs have 3 choices when they feel they are in danger-fight,flight and freeze. She can't take flight because she is tied up..... In her eyes she is protecting herself and her space. Being tied up like that also leaves her victim to anyone who wants to tease her.

your dog is protecting its territory. it probably gets streesed out because it thinks it has this responsibility. you need to establish who is top dog in your house(you) and then it will become more calm because it wont think it has to protect the house

This is what happens when you dont have your area properly secure.
