HP FANS!!!: Who do YOU THINK killed...?
I have gathered a lot of courage to ask this question, Dumbedore being my favouriteeee character and myself loving Dumbeldore. But, who do YOU THINK killed Ariana Dumbledore? Will you other Albus fans refuse to except the fact that your hero killed his own sister? (By a huge accident of course) Or will you saves Grindlewald's and Aberforth's conscience and put the blame on the dear headmaster?
I'd love to know you're opinion! Even though the subject is deeply depressing :(.
If you know, has J K Rowling ever stated who did kill Ariana?
Happy Yahooo-ing :)

I really don't know, I'm open to all explanations, but I really can't make a decision myself.
It does seem to good to be true, that Grindlewald killed her. But I somehow don't think it was Dumbledore. My question is did she actually get hit by Avada Kedavra? Because if she did, I seriously doubt Albus killed her. I don't think he would have fired the killing curse at anyone. But was it just all the magic that killed her? I'm not sure.... I don't think Aberforth did it. It wouldn't really make sense why he would do it, and not someone else. I mean it would be logical if Grindlewald did it, and it would make sense if Dumbledore did, it would make everything so tragic. But then again, maybe JKR decided Aberforth killed her for this reason. Everyone would suspect one of the other 2 first,m and Aberforth was the one who loved Ariana the most, the one who could calm her down when he needed to, get her to eat.
For some reason, I think Dumbledore drinking that potion proved he wasn't responsible. Maybe he was, but I really want to know exactly what that potion did. If it made you remember your worst memory, then Dumbledore probably did kill her. If the potion made you believe your worst fear was true, then he probably wasn't the one responsible. I don't know if any of that made sense, it probably didn't.
I really don't want it to be Dumbldore's fault. I mean maybe Grindlewald did it, he was definitely capable of such crime. I think it all comes down to this: Did Ariana die because of the Killing curse? If she did, I find it very hard to believe Dumbledore killed her, because I truly do not believe he would attempt the Killing curse, anywhere, anytime, let alone in that room, where he knew it could hit anyone, I don't think Dumbledore was aiming to kill anyone there. He wanted to stop the fight, but not by killing soemone.
A very interesting question,

This is something I always wanted the answers too.
"In a list of Most Dangerous Dark Wizards of All Time, he'd miss out on the top spot only because You-Know-Who arrived, a generation later, to steal his crown" —a line from The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore about Grindelwald
No I would never ever believe that any of the Dumbledores would kill Ariana. It was stupid for them to duel infront of her but I still think her brothers would of payed a little bit of attention to where the spells landed.
Grindelwald didnt care, he probably did it on purpose because he was evil, he wanted to really win the duel and to get back at the both of them kill their sister.

No, I don't think Dumbledore would try such a dangerous curse at random in a room full of people. I am sure it was Grindelwald, he did not hesitate using the Cruciatus Curse on Aberforth, so why not another unforgivable curse. And as for Aberfroth , he was not a wizard powerful enough to kill someone ( at that time).

It could have been either one and I believe that my opinion of Albus would not change. He already made some huge mistakes with Grindewald and I will always love him because he showed remorse unlike voldemort, and he lived the rest of his life correcting his mistake through his beliefs and what he gave to the wizarding world. I don't believe she ever stated who it was and even dumbledore on platform 9 and three quarters said he never knew which one of them did it. I think Rowling will remain mysterious about it, some things are better that way. Great question, loved it.

i think Aberforth, Grindlewald, and Albus all were involved. we knew there was a scuffle so maybe Albus shot a paralyzing curse at Grindlewald and it hit Arianna. so Aberforth tried to curse Albus and Grindlewald shot the killing curse toward Aberforth and Aberforth jumped out of the way and it hit Arianna.

Well;- JK left that as a kind of cliffhanger, leaving some to the reader's imgination;- <Hear that, Stephanie Meyer?> ... So yeah;- I'm not sure. I wouldn't like to think it was Dumbledore, no matter how accidental it was.
My wild guess would be Grindlewald.
No, if the answer was presented in front of me, I'd accept it and move on, I don't think it would tarnish my thoughts of Dumbledore too much.
I would never blame him, he needs to make mistakes as well as the next greatest person of the wizarding world.

I don't think that J.K Rowling mentioned it but I remember her writing that Dumbledore was say something like " No, take me" instead of taking her and Aberforth and Grindlewald.
I think that he did kill her. Sorry Dumbledore!!

I Would Kill Fudge, Umbridge, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix, Fenrir Greyback and Peter Pettigrew to save Lupin, Tonks, James, Lily, Sirius and Fred.

Well...nobody can form a reasonable opinion about who did it because there isn't sufficient evidence to accuse ANY of them. Although...I think that the story would be a lot more interesting if we knew that Dumbledore killed her. Not that I don't love Dumbledore or anything. I wouldn't love him any less if I knew that he had killed her because it wasn't his fault.

Sorry to say this, but I think it may have been Dumbledore. It seems too good to be true that Grindelwald killed her.
