What is this pink flower?
I retrieved this plant in bad condition ( it was about 4 ft talL) But I had to cut it down so it would live. It has tons of pink blooms that are similar to a rose but not quite. And it has thorns all over it like rose bushes would. Is it part of the rose family?
This is the flower part..had to open it up so you could see better.

that is rugosa or cape rose.it is very hardy likes well drained sandy soil and will tolerate salt water spray.hope this helps.
try this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_rugosa
in the Second picture it looks as though you put down some plastic to keep the weeds down.since this shrub sends up new plants{suckers} from the root system it may be wise to remove any weed barrier to allow the rosa rugosa to multiply.

It is a rose.
The "roses" we tend to think of as roses are just one of the many forms that the rose plant takes. The 5-petaled rose is pretty much the wild type, although many, many domesticated roses are 5 petaled.
This website has dozens of rose varieties, including 5-petaled roses that are and are not rugosas.
