CAN SOMEONE HELP ME ON THESE MATH QUESTIONS!?

These are questions that I got wrong and was hoping someone could show me the correct way of doing them.

1) Simplify: /45 A) 15/3 B) 5/3 C) 3/15 D) 3/5

sorry I don't know what the sign for square root is on the computer. the number on the right of the slash is the one inside the square root Symbol.

2) 3x + 1 > -11 or 2x - 7 < 7

A) x > -4 B) x < 0 C) all real numbers D) no solution

3) solve: 3 = 2(x - 3) + 5 - x

4) Train A ;eaves a station traveling at 50 miles per hour. Eight hours later train B leaves the same station in the same direction at 60 miles an hour. how long does it take for train B to catch up to train A?

A) 41 hr. B) 42 hr C) 40 hr D) 36 hr

5) fint the equation of the line in standard form that is perpendicular to y = 2/3x + 4 and contains the points (-8, -7)

Thank you

    1) D

    v/ is how i'm gonna put square root

    v/(45) = v/(9 x 5) = v/(9) x v/(5) = 3 v/(5)

    2) not sure, don't see the answer on the list.... i might be doing it wrong

    3x + 1 > -11 = 3x > -12 = x > -4

    2x - 7 < 7 = 2x < 14 = x < 7

    7 > x > -4

    3) x = 4

    3 = 2(x - 3) + 5 - x

    3 = 2x - 6 + 5 - x

    3 = x - 1

    4 = x

    4) C

    8 x 50 = 400

    train a is 400 miles away before train b leaves.

    60 - 50 = 10

    train b is gaining on train a at 10mph

    400 / 10 = 40

    5) don't remember how to find perpendicular lines.... parallel lines are much easier :P

    EDIT:

    looked up how to get perpendicular lines. the slopes of the two lines multiplied together must equal -1.

    so since the slope of the presented is 2/3, the slope of the new line must be -3/2. in order for point (-8, -7) to be on the line you have to subtract 19.

    so the answer is

    y = (-3/2)x - 19

    to type the √ symbol, hold down the ALT key and type 251 them let go ALT key

    1) Simplify:√45 A) 15√3 B) 5√3 C) 3√15 D) 3√5

    D

    √ 45 = √ 9 * √ 5

    = 3√5

    2) 3x + 1 > -11 or 2x - 7 < 7

    A) x > -4

    3x + 1 = -11

    3x = -12 x = -4

    2x - 7 = 7

    2x = 14

    x = 7

    answer between -4 and 7

    3) solve: 3 = 2(x - 3) + 5 - x

    3 = 2x -6 + 5 - x

    3 = x - 1

    x = 4

    4) Train A leaves a station traveling at 50 miles per hour. Eight hours later train B leaves the same station in the same direction at 60 miles an hour. how long does it take for train B to catch up to train A?

    D = 50T + 400

    D = 60T

    60T = 50T + 400

    10T = 400

    T = 40

    C) 40 hr

    5) fint the equation of the line in standard form that is perpendicular to y = 2/3x + 4 and contains the points (-8, -7)

    Two non vertical lines are perpendicular if and only if their slopes m1 and m2 are such that

    m1*m2 = -1

    The equation of a line with a defined slope m can also be written as follows:

    y = mx + b

    where m is the slope of the line and b is the y intercept of the graph of the line.

    y = 2/3x + 4

    2/3 * m2 = -1

    m2 = -3/2

    An equation of a line through a point P(x1 , y1) with slope m is given by

    y - y1 = m(x - x1)

    points (-8, -7)

    y-(-7) =- -3/2x-(-8)

    y + 7 = -3/2x + 8

    y = -3/2 x +1

    i suggest you only post one question at a time because this is very confusing
