    12x² + 11x + 2

    Factor using FOIL.

Factors of 12 are 2(6) and 3(4). You'll have to play around with the coefficients of the x factors until you come up with a combination that will give you 11x.

(3x and 1)(4x and 2) will give 6 and 4 toward the coefficient of the middle term - can't get to 11 from there.

(6x and 1)(2x and 2) will give 12 and 2 toward the coefficient of the middle term - can't get to 11 from there either.

(4x and 1)(3x and 2) will give 8 and 3 toward the coefficient of the middle term - can build 11 with that.

    (4x + 1)(3x + 2)

    (4x+1)(3x+2)

    Check

    4x →(*) 3x =12x^2

    1 → (*) 2 =2

    cross multiply 3x*1=3x ,4x * 2= 8x

    3x (+) 8x = 11x

    (4x+1)(3x+2)

    -b +/- square root: b^2 -4ac

    over 2a

    so...

    -11+/- sq.r.: 11^2 -4x12x2

    over 2x12

that's all I'm giving you. Use that as your guide to do the homework. Do not expect those on Answers to do it for you.
