I just saw a half-grown fox that appears to have been hit by a car?

The poor animal looked pitiful-scared and confused.I called the police who gave me a number to call for a conservation type officer. When we called this number got a recording to leave a message.Gave the location of the fox but if nobody gets the message until in the morning this poor animal will probably get killed. There are busy streets all around where this fox is.Does anyone have any suggestions of who I could contact other than the police?I'm sure animal control is not an option or they would have told me.Thank You.

Stay with it at a distance and perhaps phone the vets? Try giving it a bit of food or water

Perhaps try calling the animal center or something?

If you're in the U.K. call the RSPCA. They're on duty 24 hours per day
