HELP Sexing Pixie Frogs?
I just got a new pixie frog. I was reading about the difference between sexes, but I wasn’t sure from what I read if the yellow would be present on the males throat from a young age or if it would darken in as he got older. He is about the size of a half dollar. His throat looks pretty much white to me, but can I tell at this age?

The interwebs tell me that you can tell the sex for sure by around 4 inches. It seems unreliable before that. Aside from the color sexual dimorphism there is also a difference in the size of the ear related to the eye.

Males tend to have a large amount of yellow coloration along the flanks and sometimes onto the throat; females have little yellow coloration beyond the base of the limbs. This bright coloration on males appears to play a display role during breeding.5 Adult males have proportionally larger heads, particularly where the head meets the body. Sexing of these frogs is most difficult before their gonads develop but sex differences are usually quite apparent by a length of 10 cm (4 inches).
