First appointment at infertility clinic any advice?
hi all, I have my first appointment at the infertility clinic on monday and im really nervous, im just wondering if anyone can tell me what will happen at this appointment? and how long will i have 2 wait between appointments?
I tried 2 conceive for 4 years after a m/c then i had an ectopic pregnancy in feb this year, and had a laparoscopy. when the dr done my op she noticed my right tube was damaged, and the ectopic was in my left so that's also damaged. thanks. :-S

Hi hun
The first appointment is just going over you and your partners medical history and explaining what treatment they feel will be the most appropriate for you both. Nothing to worry about but like everyone said have any questions ready. Having your tubes damaged i think means the only option is ivf. But like i have said before its not as bad as it seems!! After this appointment they will make appointments for blood tests and consents .
Good luck hunni..

Hi, how r u? The doctore will do some more tests and if needed will put u on some drug to increase ur chances.. My story is a little different than yours.. I have a 5 yr old son and have had 3 miscarriages in total- the latest being 1 week ago. i'm 25 yrs old. I'm also been referred to a fertility clinic while still trying to conceive naturally. My doctor has also recommended some cream to use once i find out i am pregnant to lessen my chances of losing again. We have already started ttc since last m/c so only time will tell.. Sorry I don't no too much bout it but just letting ya no, ur not on ur own. Best of luck with everything.. I'll cross my fingers for ya!!

When we went a few years ago the doctor went through our medical history and what had happened since we started ttc. There were a few personal questions about eating, drinking habits etc. We were then giving all the options and a desision was made about our next step which would be IVF - this procedure was then fully explain to us. We were told to expect to wait a year for the treatment. I then had a follow up appointment for a week later when I was giving a scan. A week after this scan I got pregnant naturally and now have a fab litrtle boy.
Before the appointment write down anything you want to ask as you may forget once you are in there. Good luck xxx

I just had my first appointment last Friday. They asked a ton of questions and then the doctor went through what tests she would like us to have done (starting Cycle Day 1). She did a vaginal ultrasound too. So when/if my period shows up next week I'll call and they will set up testing based on the days of my cycle, starting with bloodwork and and another ultrasound. I also need to go for other bloodwork as well as my husband to check for hormones and other good stuff. He will also be going for a sperm analysis. Once all my testing is complete and they have all the results then we'll sit down again and discuss what they found and what our options are.

make sure you write down all the questions you can think of so that you don't forget after :)
make sure that you leave the clinic knowing exactly next steps for you ie.. more tests or treatments options, and they might want to do a sperm analysis for your husband as well.
you can find other ladies going through similar situations and ask fertility specialists online for free, try fertilityties.com
good luck!

definitely good advice already given - the main one being to think of all your questions in advance, write them down and then ask when you're there.
Also, when you get your results, make sure your partner is there. I got my results on Tuesday and it wasn't good news - I wish he had been there to support me.
Doc will also talk about stuff that you don't understand necessarily. do NOT be scared to ask them to slow down or to repeat it in layman's terms. Remember that they are there to help you, not bamboozle you.
And good luck!
