Would you like to see what goes on in Puppy Mills?

Dog Whisperer is visiting Puppy Mills this evening on National Geographic channel.

What do you think? Would you buy a dog/puppy from a puppy mill if you knew it came from there?

Normally, you wouldn't. The best way is know what the breed standards are for a pure breed then compare. There's a huge difference in the two.

I won't even go into a pet store that sells puppies because of the fact that they're probably from puppy mills, so there's no way I'd ever buy a puppy from a mill. Granted, I can't stand the "dog whisperer" either, but I think puppy mills are disgusting and wouldn't ever do anything to support them.

I personally am committed to NEVER buying a dog. I only want to adopt dogs. I think that there are so many dogs out there that need good homes that have never had them before, and I just cant see someone with a heart not wanting to adopt a dog that had no hope.

I personally think that puppy mills are a doggy hell. Why should any innocent dog have to live there life used for nothing more then a profit. I hate them, and the owners should be struck down, or shot in the face!

The only way I would ever by a dog from a puppy mill is because they need a home too. I wouldn't pay money for one though, because it is just going to end up right in the mills owners hands.

I would only get a puppy mill dog if the mill had been busted and the dogs were in rescue. Then you know they would need a good home and were saved from selfish evil humans.

I bought a puppy from a puppy miller last Friday because she looked near death due to dehydration and malnutrition. I reported the woman to the SPCA and have been fostering the pup until she finds a good home. About a week after I reported her, they found 27 dogs in small kennels in a garage in the same county that this woman lived in. I can only hope it was her.

I don't know why people don't like to get a puppy from a puppy miller if you can report the person. Those puppies ESPECIALLY need homes because of how badly they've been treated. Don't deny these puppies homes just because they have irresponsible owners.. the people who bring them into the world for pure greed should be punished, not the dogs.

I would never support Puppy Mill practices by buying ["saving" as some people seem to think it is] a dog from one.

I'll settle for wanderers and shelter dogs for now, thanks.

As for the answerer who claimed they don't "buy" dogs, they "adopt" them --

The adoption fee that you're paying for the dog is legally you buying the dog from the shelter/rescue.

I would never buy from a puppy mill and support those practices and the cruelty to the animals.

No because I am a responsible dog owner. I do also of research before I purchase from a breeder. I also get referrals from Friends and or others who attend dog shows. Usually responsible breeders have a long wait list and high standards for purchasing there pup. You also get what you pay for. A good bloodline purebred show dog quiality doesnt come cheap
