Can I take legal action?
I created six flyers for a kickboxing company. They then took my flyers and did not pay me for them, and took my proofs and paid SOMEONE ELSE to modify them a little bit. They still look just like my originals, only there is slightly different wording. Can I take legal action? These will be posted all over town (St. Louis, MO and surrounding areas) with credit given to the person who only added a few lines of text!! I designed the entire graphics and spent well over 50 hours on the project.
He owes me $125 for the proofs, and then another $2500 for the time I spent on them ($50/hour at 50 hours).
I usually do these for free for him, as he is a good friend. But he was working out with my husband and the guy who "re-did" them walked up to him and started talking all about it.
This guy is a very good friend of ours, and he has never had any issues in the past. I have tried to contact him a number of times over this issue... with no response.
I'm 21. And he does owe me for my time and artwork, especially since he has done this now. I'm really ticked off.

you technically can take legal action for ANYTHING if you're an adult. did you ask for pay initially? they can still pay the other person if they like them more, but you can try.
good luck!
