Online Newspaper legal issues?

Me and a few friends are starting an online school newspaper and we need to know what we can and cannot do. Please help us--we'd really appreciate it.

Ah, there are two types of "legal" issue here. The first is what you can print under US law, which is basically anything that isn't libelous, knowingly false, likely to incite racial/religious hatred/violence, or which contains scene of child pornography. The second is what your school will let you print, which is basically nothing interesting.

Write your newspaper as a blog, and start it up outside of school. That way the school can't shut you down if they don't like what you print.
