I have a fico score of 634. Is that good or bad?

Update:

I am definitely sure of my fico score. I subscribe to myfico.com which generates their information from Equifax. I wanted a laymen opinion on my score.

It is OK, but not that good.

720 is the median FICO score.

Are you sure that is a FICO score? Equifax uses FICO. You can purchase FICO scores for Equifax and TransUnion at MyFico.com. Consumers can no longer purchase FICO scores for Experian.

TransUnion and Experian will sell you Vantage (scale to 990 vs FICO's 850). Most third party monitoring services use Fakko (their own formula).

CreditKarma.com offers a free score estimator that's sorta like FICO, give or take 50 points or so.

This is considered as a fair score...it will hurt if you try to apply a loan.

Source(s): Mine is 663 and have hard time to get a refinance. (mortgage).

That is not bad but also not good.
