Insurance for three legged buffalo nickel.?

I inherited my dad's coin collection. In this collection I found a 1937d three legged nickel, It's shows wear, but most details are still there. Should I have this insured?

I am not sure I can top the other answers, but I will certainly give it a try. From your description the value is probably four figures. If it is not already done, you may even want to get it certified and slabbed by one of the major services (NGC, PCGS, or ANACS) which will protect it from further wear or damage. I would definitely consider insurance and/or a good safe place to store your collection.

I've never seen a Nickel with legs before. The poor thing would have trouble walking with only three legs, but since it's 72 years old it probably doesn't walk that well anyways.

Well.. Let me answer in the form of a story..

once upon a time i lived in a cottage. i was a man then. I was very strong. i kicked a bucket over and out spilled a leprachaun. he said if i paid him with my donkey he'd protect me if a witch attacked me. I'm a mermaid now and i havent seen any witches.
