Has anyone ever gotten a yellow liver in a roasted chicken?

You know how the gizzards r packed in the cavity separately, usually the liver is a dark brown color, always looked the same, this week I bought a roast chix and the liver was yellow, I mean French's mustard color yellow and it had a few small holes in it. Has anyone ever had this happen? Does anyone know what it was?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Update:

Thanks everyone, but it was not chix fat, it was in the little bag that the gizzards, neck, heart, and liver come packed in.

Not all chicken livers are that same dark red-brown color. They do vary from chicken to chicken and you will find, on occasion, blonde or yellow livers. The lighter color livers are a bit fattier.

Most supermarkets that sell tubs of chicken livers make a point of making sure all the livers are basically that familiar dark red-brown color, but you can, if you wish, special order the lighter-colored livers. I believe Whole Foods will oder them for you, or you can check out The Flying Pigs Farm

You got a chunk of chicken fat - not the liver.

tyler florence says the yellow skin is the best if it is white skin means it was anemic so you bought a good chicken that was healthy and fed corrctly.

It's probably not the liver if it looked like that.

Or maybe your chicken was an alcoholic?

    That's not liver...that's chicken fat!
